Huawei Firmware Upgrade & Update

In order for a Huawei modem to function, it relies on two applications. One application resides on the card itself and the other application resides on the computer that the card is installed into. The Application that resides on the card is called Huawei firmware and the application that resides on the computer is called Software.

Usually when running an update for your Huawei modem both, firmware and those installation files in the flash memory, will be updated.

Since Mobile Partner and all the drivers are compatible with any other model from Huawei and vice-versa, you can not only update your Huawei modem with updates designed for your certain device, but you can also use updates for any other Huawei USB modem. In that case only the flash memory will be updated but not the firmware, since it is not generic but hardware-specific.

The firmware unlock code is required to change the firmware version of your Huawei modem.

Huawei Firmware Upgrade Instructions

  1. Download the Firmware update and Mobile Manager Software update for your huawei modem.
  2. Plug in the USB modem and wait for the Mobile Manager to start–then close it (exit, don’t minimise).
  3. Run the Firmware update. Enter Flash code when requested.
  4. Once the Firmware update has finished, you need to unplug the modem, leave it for a few seconds, and then plug it back in.
  5. Again, wait for the Mobile Partner application to launch and close it.
  6. Launch the Mobile Partner Software update and follow the installation through.
  7. After installing the software update, unplug the USB modem and open up Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
  8. Uninstall the previous Mobile Partner software.
  9. Plug the modem back in and allow it to automatically install the new version of Mobile Partner.
